Welcome

Welcome to the EKKLESIA of the University of the Philippines Mindanao.

The EKKLESIA is a Christ-centered, Bible-based and Spirit-filled campus ministry under the fellowship of the Lord of The Harvest Christian Community, a local church based in Davao City, the Philippines. The EKKLESIA has currently two chapters: at the University of the Philippines Mindanao, and at the University of Southeastern Philippines - Mintal Campus.

The name of the organization, EKKLESIA is pronounced as [ek-klei-see-ya] ([ekklɛ:sía:] in IPA), not [e-kle-shya] as others think so. The name originated from the Greek word, ekklēsía (έκκλησία), which is translated as “the summoned” or “the called-out ones.” In the Bible, the word "Church" is translated from this word.

The purposes of this organization are:
  • To bring into awareness the need of an intimate relationship with God.
  • To make the students achieve emotional stability and spiritual growth.
  • To nurture and bring out into being a lifetime spirit of friendship and camaraderie among members.
  • To enhance academic excellence.
  • To promote social and environmental consciousness and involvement among the students.
We welcome you to our fellowship. For more information, contact Ian Fadriquela (2-BSCS) at +639096540640 or Kenneth Porio (3-BSCS) at +639292263216.

The Heavenly Father

(Lesson Eleven of Salvation Series, Pagsangkap. (c) 2002 & 2007 Noel Alkuino.)

I. THERE ARE TWO REASONS WHY JESUS CHRIST CAME TO EARTH

A. To save us from sin and to unite us with God

Jesus’ work on the cross is to both save us and unite us with His Father (Matthew 1:21; Luke 19:10; 2 Corinthians 5:19).

B. To reveal God as a Father

Jesus Christ is the way to the Father (John 14:6). The “way” is not the end of the journey, but it is the open door to our destination. Jesus Christ is the way who ushers us to the destination who is the Father.
